They’re something of a necessary evil. I don’t like cops, but can you imagine a country without its police? Also, beware of military presence in the streets. When you see armed military in the streets you can be sure you’re living in a dictatorship. Think of African countries, Cuba, North Korea or Venezuela. They’re not there to protect the people but to intimidate and prevent a revolt. Stay alert.
