There is a great power in being able to grow your own food alright. And then use the excess to trade. I grew up, my parents turned our property into somewhere to grow food. These days, I look back and only now truly appreciate why my father vision. Also, my father could build a home, fix a car, and nearly anything else that turns someone independent. He even installed his own LPG system on his car. Done everything with a pencil and a piece of paper, in terms of planing. Shame I don't have any of those skills. My dad died when I was young, and we lost the house and so on and so forth.
