As a teenager, I thought that I lived in the most boring place in the world, because I couldn’t want to leave the city limits. Then I spent 7 years in a megalopolis, in which, as it seemed to me, the dream of a life without borders, full of diversity and interesting places came true. But gradually I realized that I wanted to go home. That being too young, I couldn’t understand in what a wonderful place I was lucky to be born and grow. In fact, there were no borders and there was always where to go.

Have you ever thought that if you find yourself at the North Pole, you will have only three sides of the world to choose from? Or it will not remain at all and you will find yourself at the zero point of any coordinates. So, in ordinary life, wherever you are, all 4 cardinal points are always available to you.

In the morning I reminded myself of this fact and went on a small tour of my native lands. Was interested to see if spring has come into its own everywhere. I went towards the eastern mountains.

Spring at the foot of these giants has just claimed its rights. There was only a break in the ice, but the water is not free. This surprised me a little, because just an hour away, there is almost no snow left on the hills in my hometown and the rivers are fervently carrying their waters into the bay.

Climbing higher into the mountains, I found knee-deep snowdrifts, but the local mountain lakes have already begun to thaw, the spring sun does not stop working here for a second, trying to melt the traces of winter faster.

I was very lucky to see something similar to a solar halo. Caused by the high concentration of moisture in the air and air vortices in the mountains. I think another week and these places will be completely transformed.

I decided to return by another route to the city, for a change, not even suspecting what I would see along the way. Can say that I was absolutely not ready for what I saw. It was probably one of my biggest amazements of all time in these lands.

Cows! Yes, I understand that for most of you there is nothing surprising in this, probably even many of you see these animals every day, in a live form. I've seen them more than once, too, in the south. But this is the first time I see live, grazing cows in our north.

Of course, we have closed farms where these cute creatures live in a warm stable and eat special food for desiccated milk yield. But I have never met free farmers with cows. Well, as you have noticed, there is almost no snow on the southern side of the mountains. Cows can graze here! I would be less amazed if I met a Yeti.

Returning to the topic of this post, remember that there is a huge interesting world around you, and quite often you don’t need to go on a long journey to find yourself in a new place.

I found out that literally after an hour of driving north, I begin to feel the cold of the Arctic, and my city is a pretty warm place, and I should not complain about the cold winters in it.

Climbing mountains even 500 meters above sea level also radically changes the climate. More snow, ice and wind. I even know some southern areas here in which it is impossible to exist in winter due to the peculiarities of the landscape.

Just move away from your habitual place for 50 kilometers and you will immediately notice how much the landscape and nature have changed, I’m sure that this works almost anywhere in the world.
