"What Valentine's Day?"

That's usually what you'll hear from others who are bitter when you'll mention about Valentine's Day. Some would even go as far as to mark their calendars in a different date (various memes found online can attest to that), some would even profess their loathe for the said day and for happy couples (even uttering the ever famous "walang forever" line to them), and others would keep all the things related to the 14th of February laced with sarcasm.

As per usual, this year's Valentine's day is just the same as the previous one and the previous one and so on. No expectations as per usual although there's that teeniest bit of hope that maybe, just maybe, someone would make the mistake of sending me a gift. Since those chances were slim, I had to make things happen (or at least me and a friend did).

Seeing as how there were lots of flowers being sold on the streets, we decided to get a rose for every lady in our department. And honestly, it actually felt good to give such to them. It's actually better than just waiting around for things to happen.

So well, aside from the (sort of) self-given rose, my sister also gave me a chocolate, probably to let me avoid feeling bitter about this occasion.

I may not have had experienced Valentine's Day going on a date with a special someone or being showered with fancy gifts, but I still think it's a day worth being recognized. Although all our impressions for this day vary, the underlying thought of this day would be a celebration of love. And love in itself comes in many forms.

I hope we're all experiencing the love we so definitely deserve. ❤
