My birthday's one of the most important days of the year for me. Although I can't say I've celebrated one lavishly, I'd just love celebrating it in such a way where I'd feel like the day's entirely special. Months prior to "the day", I've already manage to scour around the fringes of facebook and some travel blogs to check out which spots in Cebu would be an ideal place to chill for a bit. I actually already had a plan to go to one of the esteemed islands around here, but just weeks before, I decided to go against it because I stumbled upon a facebook post which seemed like the exact thing I needed - to feel disconnected.
Seeing that tagline "disconnect to connect" got into me; hence, I decided to look into that campsite's page, and before I knew it, I already made reservations going to the place (though I've made the reservation just a day short of "the day" because I didn't wanna take a leave from work).
And so my little adventure started...
From the South Bus Terminal, I took a bus going to San Fernando (40php), the ride only lasted for more than an hour and I got down at Pitalo Church. From there, I rode a trisikad(tricycle) going to the campsite (75php).
Upon arriving there, I immediately noticed a number of people gathered in various crowds. It was honestly intimidating for I wasn't able to figure out who to approach regarding my reservation (200php for overnight stay inclusive of breakfast), but good thing I was able to spot who to talk to after a couple of minutes. Initially, I opted to rent out a tent, but the staff suggested I should try sleeping in a hammock (150php) - aside from the body pains sleeping in a tent may entail, sleeping in a hammock also serves as a new experience - and I didn't regret it!
I was even lucky enough to be positioned beside the balcony and I got to enjoy a view of the mountains while resting, and easily got a view of the infamous infinity swing.
Despite the swing seemingly being their main selling point because of the social media craze, there are still lots of things you can do on the campsite.
You can try the back-to-basic tire swing.
Go on a trek to a nearby creek - guided by little tour guides.
And go trekking to Kawasan falls (50 php) - different Kawasan falls though.
True to its word, the "disconnect to connect" slogan really took place as you won't be able to get ahold of signal on your phone, but with that being the case, you'll get to experience connecting with others face-to-face, and it was a truly rewarding experience.
