@emrebeyler made a fork of Beem that I believe simplified it. Beem isn't really maintained anymore and many there are a few bugs that create problems.

I would recommend staying far away from Hive Python. That hasn't been touched in ages. It is really frustrating.

I believe a lot do use the wallet. I know I did and still do for some things.
