I did a post on the Blacksmith Lapwing (aka Blacksmith Plover) recently. I also promised to get pictures of more of the wild birds I see daily while walking my dog. I apologise in advance for the not great photo's but they were taking while walking with very little prep time. My excuse and I am sticking to it
On the left as you look at the photo is a Glossy Ibis and on the right the Sacred Ibis
The next one is my favourite, and I look for her and her child each time I walk. Her offspring is about ten months old and is a speckled brown color, tall and gawky. Mom keeps a close eye on her child.
Grey Heron, standing about 3 foot tall and is a slow graceful flyer
Poor quality photo but I wanted to show these Common Ringed Plover. They are stunning little birds who run tremendously fast. In fact they 'scurry'. I include a better photo below.
And a great little singer comes next... the himble little Cape Canary. Measuring around 7 cm's this species has a beautiful mating song which he belts out at decent volume for minutes on end trying to get himself laid.
Not a great photo but this is a Cape Canary. There is a large community of these birds in the area
We are blessed to have such an abundance of birdlife around at all times. There are still quite a few I have not yet covered...and they are all sighted every morning I walk my dogs!!
