As is our wont each year on 'Boxing Day' we pack some hampers of basic food and sanitary for some of the many unemployed people who stand on the side of the road hoping to get offered casual labor for the day.
South Africa's unemployment rate rose to 34.9% in the third quarter of 2021, up from 34.4% in the previous period. It was the highest jobless rate since comparable data began in 2008, on the back of the July unrests and the still stringent lockdown.
This year the youngsters took on themselves to finance, purchase, pack and distribute. We are very proud of them demonstrating a social conscience
Big kudoes to them but as we all know,they will be rewarded in some way in return... the old adage springs to mind "give and thy shall receive
