About two weeks ago the lockdown was eased to allow exercise during the day with a 21h00 - 05h00 curfew imposed. Yesterday my good lady and I decided to go for a long walk on the beach... or as my girl announced on Friday night..'Let us go have a beach picnic tomorrow'
I was soon forced to reappraise what had seemed like a nice outing when she donned her Garmin watch and advised me to wear lycras under my shorts...:Picnic indeed!!"
@themagus looking pretty relaxed at the start of the slog ... errr, I mean walk....or is that PICNIC?
It was a beautiful day with a chilly south east wind blowing as we set off towards Big Bay from Woodbridge Island in Milnerton. That meant the wind was at our backs and would be a headwind on our way back as we were doing an out and back walk.
Much to my disgust the tide was coming in which meant we were forced to walk on a sloping beach with very loose sand... even the wet sand one just sank into.
layered rock
The amount of plastic on the beach was seriously disturbing .... with some seriously disturbing plastic ...
After 5.5 km's we stopped to eat our packed picnic whilst watching the kite surfers enjoying what was now a steady strong wind.... made my legs ache thinking of the return journey.
Albeit cold, the hamburger sure hit the spot
Shortly after we headed back into the wind with me definitely feeling my the effort. After three and a half hours of walking (out and back) I can tell you I was knackered. Once we got home I showered and lay down for a while. I was sore and tired and that evening after dinner and a couple of glasses of wine I hit the sack... and slept soundly.
It was only this morning that I realised how well my wife had managed me the previous day. It was the anniversary of my sons passing.... a day with which I struggle every year. She was aware of this and made sure that I was constantly distracted and finally exhausted so I could sleep.
My wife and rock.... @fempower
