Merry happy festive holiday season to all and sundry... may your best moments of 2019 be your lowest moments in 2020.
But hang on, that is not what this is about.... I heard this startling fact from my good lady.. and decided to research it. Mariah Carey (yes, that is not a typo) has garnered a bunch of world records ..not the vinyl kind ... for a christmas song
Mariah Carey - All I want for Christmas is You
I have no problem if you do not listen to that ... I only got about one minute into it and had to reach for my waste paper bin to chuck up..... should definitely come with a 'content' warning
The popular holiday anthem "All I Want for Christmas is You" has been a sensational classic since it first debuted on 29 October 1994, as part of her first holiday album Merry Christmas.
It has become one of the best-selling and most recognizable Christmas songs globally, and features the traditional sounds such as handbells, piano, and the xylophone.
However, the most iconic instrument in the tune is arguably her five-octave vocal range, which is a feature that Mariah has been well-known for in her acclaimed music career.
Since her first Christmas album, Mariah’s love for the season has led her to create an additional Christmas album, Merry Christmas II You.
>Carey’s record-breaking single continues to set the bar for other holiday hits, which has also now earned the Guinness World Records titles for most streamed track on Spotify in 24 hours (female) (10,819,009 streams in December 2018) and most weeks in the UK singles Top 10 chart for a Christmas song (20) titles.
Holy Gamoly ...... no accounting for taste !!
A no value post but ..DAMN, did it feel good to get that off my chest
