OPINION
I wanted to try this video game for a long time, more than anything because it was a Hack n Slash, I like games in which you can improve your skills in addition to using weapons, having some time and space on my computer, I tried Blasphemous, a Spanish game who uses its Folklore as its greatest weapon.
My first impression of the game was that it was about Limbo, hell or some reference to the Christian/Catholic religion, using a vocabulary like verses from poems in its dialogues, reminding me of Dante's Inferno or its like. The truth is, it is inspired by a Goya work: Procession of Disciplinants. In addition to using Spanish Folklore in their bosses and environments, giving us a new place to pray to if we don't believe in Hell.
Something curious that I noticed when playing was not really seeing anything related to God or the Devil, thinking that they just wanted to do something new without using those references, using their imagination more than those stories or games that always talk about defeating these divine beings, the truth is that nothing related to it was used out of respect for religion, in addition to not causing any unnecessary fight by misusing the references.
I don't just love the game as such, with its levels, bosses, main character, the philosophical dialogues that he encounters with the NPCs, the fact that he thought so much about the game to use a frame reference for his character, the reality of our hero, the way everything unfolds, I think I like more the productions where they are thought out and have some soul in them.
The game took three years to finish, with only two people at first, but when they saw that they exceeded the crowdfunding limit of 50,000 dollars, it ended up being 275,000 dollars, causing some pressure on its production.
Something magnificent about the game, in addition to its environments, bosses and its story, is its music, it gives you a feeling of relaxation, wisdom and danger, as if it were about entering a high-ranking church. A game that uses Spanish Folklore came to the world, showing that other places have interesting stories to use, seeing as it has always done in Japan, this is a new installment that shows us another new reality in another part of the world.
Its game has an extensive map, where there are hidden objects, enemies that cannot be defeated the first time, small problematic bosses, NPCs that we do not know what to do with them in the first encounter, it is a video game capable of keeping you entertained for a long time, both to be able to defeat its bosses but also to be able to complete it to 100% which I only reached 80% on my first try.
Apparently, there are several endings, which I thought were only two, one supposedly happy ending and the other not so happy, I can't know which ending I got but that ending made me dazzle, opening my eyes in admiration for its story, something that I quite enjoyed play, read, see its pixel-art animations, would definitely play it again.
