It all depends on the use cases really. I luckily got good deals on my Apple products, I used to work for them, so I know the ways, lol. But I am not running it for a server cluster or anything. All of my machines have dedicated use cases. When it comes to consumer LLM use though, Apple really can't be beat on the bang for buck situation when you look at the cost of a build. That's why I have the Mac Mini M4 Pro with 64Gb of unified memory (52GB VRAM), that I got for like $2400 after taxes and shipping directly from Apple. Can't do that with a home build with GPUs.
