Today's homestead project finds me back in the workshop for a couple of different reasons. One, it is nasty outside today, big storms rolling through. But the real reason is I am finally getting my 3D printers leveled, calibrated, and running my first prints!
This process was kind of a pain because, well, I got some bad advice from YouTube, but I ended up working it out in the end, just took some tinkering. I ended up downloading some files that a guy put up that helps you level the printer, but the issue was one of the little parts was not positioned quite right and was causing the print arm to not sit right when setting to the home position. I figured that out and finally got on the way to getting these printers leveled.
One of them did great, the other gave me some issues. After stepping back and taking a dab to calm myself down a bit, I figured out the problem and readjusted the part that was messed up in the original installation, and got that one working too!
The level setup files came with a print file that allowed me to run some test prints to see any weak and unlevel spots. The first printer was good to go after the first time leveling, but what I also learned is why the print bed came with some clips, haha. You have to hold the print plate to the actual moving bed or it will shift and throw your prints all off.
But all that is just part of the process in setting up these kind of things. I have never messed with them before so I am learning along the way. I am excited to get my first prints up and going for the farm! Now I just need to learn all the software that I have to learn to go along with it. Not to mention, now I have to learn CAD and 3D modeling... Something told me in my early 20's to learn CAD, haha.
Anyway, I am excited to get the Moss Rock Farms printer farm all up and running to start printing hydroponics gear to grow some food! It's a new journey and I want you guys along for the ride, so I hope you give me a follow if you like watching a dude figure stuff out so you don't have to, haha.
