Greetings everyone,
It has been a long time since I last joined hands with Aeona and played a nature deck whether it is for fun or competitvely. But now I decided to go back to the old days again and play a control nature deck since we are seeing those everywhere now and they seem fun to play for me.
So just like most of the current decks now, this deck will be somewhat focused on healing, however, it does not have that heavy of a healing but it has strong creatures and tons of clearing spells to keep surviving the game as long as possible. My deck contains several expensive cards, but I will also be providing some good cheaper alternatives for them! So let us have a look at the deck and go in more details:
The Deck
As we can see, the deck does contain a lot of cards that provides healing, however, it is not based on heavy healing yet on the clearing potential that it has with the high number of spells and instant hitting creatures it has! Now it might not be the best of decks, but it was pretty effective with me as it helped me get back to mythic after dropping and now i am surviving and doing decent in mythic too!
Expensive cards and replacements!
Now let us talk about what can you replace those couple of costly cards in the deck with something that will still do pretty well:
Compost Charm for Winter's Bounty
Both these spells have almost the same effect, however, due to the difference in the cost between them you can switch both compost with one bounty and have one empty slot so you can add a late game finisher for the deck. Winter's Bounty costs much less and it is still a decent replacement!
Underbrush Boar for Finnian Fruitbearer or Arrow of Rage
Both these cards serves as decent replacement but they have different purposes. Arrow of Rage can be an extra early game clearance to help survive, while Finnian can help take a bit of control early game in case you had a good start to the game. Underbrush of course is still the best card among those but these are the best budget replacement you can find.
Avatar of Nature for Fir Tree's Fury or Falling Star
Now there are not mich cards that are like Avatar of Nature but these are the best replacement that fits in this deck for extra clearance. You can also maybe use Guild Enforcer as a good 5 mana creature but Blade makes it an easy target.
Early game starting hands
Now one of the trickiest things in this deck, is knowing what to have as a starting hand. This card turn the game upside down and for that I will be sharing what I think you should try and get after experiencing this deck for a while:
Against Aggro decks
Seeing what the purpose of this deck is, it is normal to try and get some good clearing hand for early game against aggro decks to not allow them to get good control over the board, so a decent hand for these matchups would be something like this:
Faeflame shines very bright against aggro light so try as much as possible to get that in these matchups! As for war it is prefferable to have a spell so you do not take much damage from hitting creatutres with relics!
Against Control Matchups
Now as it implies these matchups will be very slow, and you mostly have to focus on clearing your opponent annoying cards and playing your strong ones at the good time after baiting as much cards from them as possible, and to do that the best hands for these scenarios are the mid game cards! So try and have those early on!
This would be a decent hand to have for the heavey control deck matchups! Keep in mind to try and be patient and not playing your strong creatures at random only to have them killed easily!
Against Zombie and Anubians
Now these 2 matchups requires almost the same hand, however, the only difference is, it is great to have the relic removal for zombies and Compost Charm for anubians so a combination of early game creatures and these other cards is the best!
Final Thoughts
Although the deck does not seem very strong and missing a lot of cards, It still performs pretty decent as long as you mastered the way of playing it and the purpose of it to know how to survive and when to start ending when you need to! And most importantly it is very fun to play and switch for from time to time but matches requires a bit of a long time since you will be just trying to survive early on!
Also with the replacements I showed it can still do pretty good so I would advise to try it out if you are fancying some control nature and just enjoy the game and do not get frustrated at first if it was pretty weird and complicated to play it! Just have fun and enjoy the process of learning! My win rate currently is around 52% in mythic!
That was it for this one, hope you liked the deck, if you did be sure to try it out and drop a follow I would really appreciate the support and hope everyone had a great weekend and happy new year for everyone! See you on the next one!
Mad Love, Peace out <3
