Greetings everyone,
So after finishing my daily or weekend ranked games, I often get into this stage where I just want to play stupid strange decks even if it costs me losing a bunch of games. However, most of the meme decks requires some sort of an expensive card that I do not have or can not afford.
But a while ago copperpitch played a magic deck where he combos his opponent for 30 HP at turn 7 with a spell called arcane burst, so I decided to try this deck out now since it is very affordable, and see if I can win some games with it in mythic or no.
So in this post I will be explaining how this deck works, and showing the results I got for the several games I played! So let's jump into it!
The Deck
That is the deck I was running, I think it looks very similar if not the same to the one copperpitch first tried, but as you can see it is not very expensive, only Ancient texts and Form of power costs a little bit. Now let us talk about how this deck works exactly.
How to play it?
Now they key in this deck here is that you have to try your best and survive with the spells that you have up until 7 mana-ish spot. While also surviving what you will try to do here is keep using spells, either for clear or draw to fill your void with 10 spells.
In addition to that, you will use your Helpful Aetherfox to reduce the cost of Pyrrhic Knowledge to 0.
This way you will have 2 Pyrrhic Knowledge that costs 0 mana that you can play on the same turn. It is a little bit tricky to do and needs some turns but you have a hefty amount of card draw so it should help you to do this.
Now after achieving this, and surviving to 7 mana, you will probably have 10+ spells in your void by then, now you can use your Arcane Burst and the two 0 mana cost Pyrrhic Knowledges to hit your opponent in the face for 30 damage! The Arcane Burst deals 1 damage for each spell you have in your void up to 10!
Now it is a little bit tough to achieve, and that is why you do not see this deck so often being played, however, it is definitely doable if you play it well and the matchup does not counter you so much. What makes this deck possible to win with is the wide variety of card with different purposes:
Clearing cards
These allow you to keep clearing board and surviving till the point you want to reach!
Damaging cards
These gives you both the options to either clear the enemy board with them or chip his face for some extra damage if you needed! You might be able to get him down to 20 HP instead and using 2 combo cards instead of 3 which is much easier!
Card draws
These helps you keep cycling through your deck and getting the cards you need for the combo or to clear board!
Matchups Results
I played this deck for 8 matches only in mythic and here are the results that I had:
So overall I won 3 out of my 8 games, not that good but I was not expecting to win that much either :p. But you can definitely get some wins while enjoying a meme deck here, there was 2 matches that I could have won also if I played it right!
Final Thoughts
The deck is deiniftely not one that you can rely on in weekend rank for example, it is somewhat of a meme deck that you can play for fun and to switch things up a little bit, but you can definitely still win a couple games with it even in mythic and not necessarily drop ranks!
It also teaches you somewhat about surviving till late game or also setting up a good hand which can help you somehow in a control or card draw magic deck, so it also teaches you some things to make you better at magic! And most importantly it is very fun and does not look like any other deck at the moment which makes it unique! So definitely do try it out if you want to enjoy some chill silly games :D
