For the last couple of weeks, aggro war decks are being used a lot and finding pretty good winrate up until this moment. So since it has been a while since I played any type of war decks, I decided to try out a very cheap aggro war deck and see how it goes.

Now despite the war god being good in general in this meta, I was a little rusty on it because of the long time that I have not played war, however I can say that it went pretty well as I was expecting and it might be the god that I will use for the weekend event 18 games!

So in this post I will be sharing the deck I used and talking about why war is good at the moment and why is it being used a lot! So without further ado, let us jump into it:

The Deck

The deck is a pretty basic aggro war deck, it costs around 62$ and can be made even cheaper and still be effective! You can easily find a good replacement for any expensive card in the deck. Now let us see how did this deck perform.

Matchups Results

So I tried this deck out for 15 games, and I got 11 wins which is very good to me! I was able to win in most matchups but it was a little bit rough against death, but good thing I did not matchup with them a lot! But pretty good results overall!

Why is the deck being used a lot?

Now let us talk about why war is pretty much everywhere now, and why is a lot of people using it and there are 3 reasons for that:

Reason #1: It performs pretty well

One of the most obvious reasons I know, but the deck is being used a lot just because it is doing pretty well in the current meta now why is that you might wonder, let us go into further details about it:

Recent changes

There were a few changes not very long ago, that improved and made this deck a bit better overall, and these changes were:

Cunning Challenger

The stats change as well as the mana cost on this creature, made it an excellent addition to such type of decks, let alone the tempt fate that can turn the game around sometimes as it happened many times with me. The rework on this creature elevated the level of aggro war deck!

White Fur Guard

The second rework which improved the aggro war decks is this card. It is now very annoying to kill at 5 mana with the protected, and can be used to pack a good punch to your opponent face, or protect your creatures to get more damage in!

New cards addition

In addition to the recent changes that benefited aggro war decks, there are some new added cards to the game that also helped it much and they are:

Skollkin Valkyrie

This MJ cards is a great early game card for such type of decks and it helped improve aggro war a lot that it is being used pretty much everywhere nowadays!

Woodcutter Imp

This card was pretty much made to improve aggro war decks so much, and the use rate and win rate on it shows only that! It is excellent to get extra face damage in and it took aggro war to a completely new level once again!

Reason #2: Being very budget friendly!

The second reason for it being used a lot, is that you can literally get good results with any kind of budget you have for the game as long as you know how to play well! Especially with war you can make an expensive deck and get good wins or play a very cheap deck and still get similar results! Let us see an example of what I mean:

Non-budget cards

These are several expensive cards that you can use for this deck and get very good results with them and they work pretty well with it:

Pyramid Warden

One of the best cards in the game, can be used pretty much everywhere, and this is no exception. It can provide really good value early on and get you a bit of damage as well as board control.

Sleigh Master Valka

The overkill can help you get face damage in addition to being a really good creature for the 5 mana spot in this deck. Definitely a good addition and it was made for aggro war decks!

Scythes of the Harvest

An excellent relic for these type of decks. Can help get huge face damage in as well as giving extra strenght to a creature which can too help you damage your opponent! Amazing card for this deck indeed.

Mid budget cards

These are not very expensive but not cheap as well cards that can be very good in this deck:

Oddi, Valka's Herald

Been used ever since it was released in both aggro and control war decks, and not a big surprise seeing the value it provides as well as the protected being very annoying most of the times!

Master Tactitian

A great early game card for this deck. The protected makes it annoying early on and can be used either for face damage or board clear depending on the matchup!

Buget Cards

Now here are the cheap cards that you can use in this deck as a replacement and still get similar results:

Raid Reveller

A little nerfed version of Oddi, however, still serves the main purpose as effectively which is getting face damage in and providing value!

Deathsworn Raider

Having many vikings in this deck makes this card a pretty good addition, which can help you get more damage in and getting strong creatures on board!

Feral Shapeshifter

The good stats, as well as the hidden on this creature, makes it a really good addition for this deck because it almost guaratees face damage for you, and also can be a good target for buffing spells and effects because it is tough to remove it when it is first played!

Reason #3: Being very fast paced

Now the 3rd and last reason why war is being played a lot is probably because it is one of the fastest paced decks in the game right now; you can end the game almost everytime at 5 or 6 mana which is a lot of people are seeking because they want to end their games very fast! So if that is your goal this is one of the best deck to do so!

Final Thoughts

So as we can see, that is why war is being used a lot nowadays, and after trying it out I can safely say it will be staying for a while especially since both MJ and WW sets are locked and there will be no further changes in them. The only way for war to go for now is to either people starting to adjust and play specifically to counter it, or a certain nerf to core cards coming.

But for now, for anyone who does not have a high budget for the game and want to get more wins and in a faster pace, war is definitely your go to god if you are not already a one trick on a certain god!
