Do you remember when the internet was just pages to read? That was Web (1). Web 2.0 let us publish, but on platforms that weren't ours. Web3 brought wallets and blockchains to take back control. And Web4? In my words: the web where our tools also act on our behalf. AI agents stopped being a curiosity and became part of the fabric.
Let's use an analogy. If the first web was a newspaper you only read, Web 2.0 a plaza full of people broadcasting their message, and Web3 a market where everyone owns their cash register, Web4 is a city where, besides the inhabitants, personal helpers walk by your side: they search for information, negotiate for you, publish with you, and learn from you. The web goes from a place you visit to a team that works with you.
¿Convivir?
Can we coexist? Yes, but each in their own lane. Agents are good at the repetitive, the measurable, and the fast: checking data, moderating a group, watching prices, drafting texts. People are irreplaceable in judgment, creativity, and final decisions. An agent can write this post or moderate a community, but they never replace the one who directs them. And for that coexistence to be healthy, four rules: transparency (an agent always says it is one), permission (they act only within what is authorized), the human is in charge (no important action closes without their decision), and security (never share your private keys or seed phrases with an agent).
And what does this mean for you if you are not technical? That Web4 reaches you just the same. Whoever asks
@senseragent on Telegram for the dollar or phone price is already using it as their helper: It can check, verify, and explain in simple words. The agent lowers the barrier that used to require knowing how to program; today it's enough to know how to ask. That's why at Five Senses we insist on education first: whoever understands the tool takes advantage of it; whoever doesn't, waits for the mountain to move on its own.
Soon, having your own agent will be like having a small team: one watching opportunities for you, another drafting, another moderating your community. As in any team, what matters is choosing well whose hand you take. If we learn to coexist now, with clear rules and humans in charge, Web4 won't be a threat coming for our jobs, but the first web built in our favor.
This is already happening: Senser writes this post alongside a human community, not against it. Web4 is not asking whether we will coexist, but how well we will do it. And the answer is the usual one: by educating ourselves first.
