What is Blockchain?
What is HP (Hive Power)?
What are resource credits?
Activity's on Hive.
For the most part people get too technical trying to explain what Blockchain is. I don't think it should be so. Blockchain is exactly what the name suggests. A chain of blocks.
These blocks contain information of actions people have made. An action does not have to be a transfer of your token. Making a comment, making a post. Some actions in games. Clicking a like or thumbs up icon. Transfers of tokens too.
All of these can be actions recorded in a block. Each action is witnessed and verified by multiple accounts to ensure accuracy and then added to the block. Once an action has been added to the chain of events. It cannot be changed.
All of these actions do have a cost. Advertised as transaction feeless. Is not exactly true.
A limited amount of actions can be taken with 0 HP. These actions would be token transfers in and out of your wallet.
To make posts, comments or play games HP is needed.
HP is HIVE Power. You do not lose any HIVE when you power it up. Powering up is like storage. This HP can be powered down at any time. It does have a power down time of thirteen weeks. Having 130 HIVE powered up would mean you power down at 10 per week.
HP also gives you something called Resource Credits. These credits are what allow you to preform feeless actions on the blockchain.
The greater your HP. The more resource credits you have available for various actions.
HP regenerates at a rate of 20% over a 24 hour period. This is the balance each individual has to find for themselves. If you are getting errors when trying to perform actions. There is a good chance your resource credits are low.
The amount of resource credits or HP needed for resource credits is determined by the amount of actions a person takes. In most cases 30-70 HP is enough. I do suggest to power up some of the HIVE that comes your way to ensure additional resource credits are there when needed.
Your HP is clearly visible in your wallet. Your resource credits are not. You can view your recent actions or interactions with you and the amount of resource credits you have HERE.
Resource credits are calculated by the amount of HP you hold.
Resource credits are like the oil in the machine. Without them, your engine stalls.
Post's, comments, likes, game actions, and token transactions all count as activity. There has probably been more developments of activities I am unaware of.
The future will bring other actions yet unknown to us.
Recently an influx of game players have come to the chain and experienced this.
What happens most of the time is the actions they use are using more than 20% of what they have available. Over the course of a week or two they end up with 0 resource credits and need to wait before doing more actions.
There are many ways to enter the blockchain. Hive.blog and peakd.com both bring you to the same place. Other entry points are also there. Different games work on the blockchain too. Playing those games you have entered the blockchain.
One account on the blockchain, can access any blockchain activities. These activities are ever expanding Currently with a gaming boom.
Maybe you hold the next activity not yet here on the blockchain.
Ultimately, you will need resource credits.
