Hive DAO. DHF. decentralised/transparency. Voting. Governance.
Is Hive better than what we had before? Or just a new team controlling?
Over the past couple of weeks I have been pondering the Hive DAO or DHF. The reason for this, my own proposal I want to put forward. My understanding is that it does work on the DPOS system. The amount of HP that votes to a proposal determines if it will be granted the contribution from the DHF.
One thing that jumps out at me is, it seems to be very behind closed doors. The transparency of who voted or how many votes a proposal got is not evident.
Have we just jumped from a ruling party to another. What changes are there since the move from the other platform. How are things any different over here on Hive. A post by @lordbutterfly which can be seen Here put this line of thought in my mind.
Is Hive nothing more than a funnelling of funds to a crew of elitists? Those who can control the chain by combining the stake of a small few of the population. If this is the case then it is the same reason as before which prevented investment to the previous platform. Everything is controlled by a small few with control over decision making.
When everything about the chain is decided by DPOS and nothing else, the same people will remain in control and nothing will change.
The criteria of how much DPOS votes to a proposal might not be the best method to of approval. Working out an alternative method might be something that needs to be discussed amongst the population of the Blockchain.
While equality of outcome is not something I believe in. I do believe in equality of opportunity. The present voting system of rewarding does not provide equality of opportunity. It serves to promote and give greater advantage to high stake holders.
There is no equality there at all in the present voting system. While it should be accepted those with a higher HP will give a higher vote. The vote should be equal on all levels of voting power. 1 Hive should have a 1% value in voting weight of 100 Hive. 10 Hive should have a voting power 1% of 1,000 Hive and so on up the ladder. This is currently not the case.
Is the only thing being done to prevent a hostile take over. A thirty day power up? What happened to talks about changing the voting system for a witness? DO thing just come back to changes will be made when it will suit those with the Hive Power best? The same repetition as before. Implementation of process to benefit a small few and make things harder for the rest of the population that make use of the Blockchain.
I am of the mind-set now that not just the DHF/DAO will be funnelled to the selected. Also more reductions to the reward pool will be imposed to dwindle it down even more as soon as these SMT's are released.
This will no doubt benefit those who already hold the larger stakes and hurt new members and lower stake holders.
While this is all hear say and conjecture. I see nothing that contradicts my point of view. Transparency is not with us yet. Decentralised only goes so far as the witnesses are not all part of the same company or nation. Control over the chain is however centralised.
