Calbayog is considered to be Samarβs City of Waterfalls. With over 20+ waterfalls, this city in the province of Samar is home to a lot of natural and man-made spots; an adventurerβs dream place to be.
When you fall, you βbangonβ.
I am Cian π and today, weβre going to Bangon Falls which is somewhere east from the Province of Cebu. Letβs dive (literally) right into it.
Bangon Falls is located in Brgy. Tinaplacan/Brgy. Bugtong, Calbayog City, Samar, a more or less one hour land travel from the City proper. Also known as Bugtong Falls, this beauty is sought after by a lot of locals and foreigners that chose to visit the Province. It is a tiered waterfalls being the topmost level as tier 1 in this blog.
Fun fact: The word βBangonβ in Filipino and Cebuano language means βget upβ. This explains our joke mentioned a while ago π.
When you fall, you βbangonβ. π
My family and I decided to have our usual outing at Bangon Falls before pandemic. Woke up early in the morning to prepare our foods and be there as early as possible so that weβll still have a place to stay.
Arrived at the Brgy. Tinaplacan Highway and decided to ride a paid habal-habal going up to the falls. πIt is a 3km distance from highway, soooβ¦ itβs up to you if you wanna walk or just save your energy for later hahaha. Finally, weβre at the area of the falls with little number of tourists still. Secured our spot at the lowest level of the falls (Tier 3). This level is the safest level to swim at. We had kids on board so this is where we chose to stay.
We ate our lunch and snacks by the rocks at the lowest level of the falls. We just sat down and enjoyed the nice weather, ate our already cooked dishes, drinks and talks, while the water is flowing from one place to another. Such a nice time to be alive!
Bangon Falls π± is known for its system of cascades. The water is flowing from one elevation to another. The safest one is of course the lowest level (or what I want to call as Tier 3). Itβs basically for kids because this part is shallow. This is where we stayed, aete our lunch at, and left our bags to climb up the middle and topmost level.
Posing at the middle level hahaha. Then went to the uppermost, the main falls. The top is deep enough for someone to dive. It is wide enough for everyone to share. The air above is so nice and we were all so happy to be blessed with such natural beauty of nature. We stayed there and took a lot of pictures and videos to treasure the moment.
We need to be very careful β οΈ in going up because youβre walking on a slippery rock. There is a rope to guide you but you really need to be extra careful. What I did is I really removed my slippers for precaution hahaha and even grabbed the rocks in fear of sliding.
If youβre not in Calbayog City, Samar:
If youβre already in Calbayog City, Samar:
If youβre already at the highway going to falls:
I donβt know why I did what I did and kept on doing that pose, must be the weather hahaha. But anyway, I think that it really made me stand out on our pics. Although I regret doing it now. π
We left Bangon Falls around late noon and went straight to another spot just nearby called Malajog Beach. We played volleyball by the beach and ate our remaining foods before heading home. π
Samar is known to be the caving capital of PH. It does have a lot of nature-made resources and spots that we sure do need to visit when in the said province.
Iβm still going to bring you to other destinations nearby. Hope youβll join me in that too next time. Ciao!π€
