No mercy for the weary adventurer

After fighting a heap of easy fights, against some normal sets of creatures I get put up against The Collector, a boss wanting to test my might just before the main boss because it doesn't feel like this game wants to be hardcore enough, so it has to punish me with possible loss of health as a means of weakening my heroes.

So you get to see how the fight pans out, how the heroes of mine fair against it, then move onto the main boss with the camping already completed. How will the adventure go this time around? Will they succeed or will they be slaughtered?
