Curious, just how you base upvotes and downvotes on for criteria?

If something is not deserving for certain reasons that are legitimate then sure.

But if it is of something done all by the author, their own content gathered and written well with quality then no need for it.

Is it random or specific?
I just want to know,out of curiosity is all since you are a new account here used for upvoting and downvoting.
