Hi @smyle! I enjoyed reading your piece. I believe that it was trying to place importance on cherishing the present over spending time worrying about the future. I think that your piece presented sensible points about how human beings should choose the former over the latter. I agreed with most of your points. Let me add my personal take on this is. If we don't think about the future and got accustomed to what we have in the present, we may become short-sighted. As creatures of habit, we may get too comfortable with the way things are. Thinking about the future gives us a direction to move to something that is meaningful for us. I think that the right balance of smelling the roses (cherishing the present) with our vision of the magnificent garden (the future) is my answer to this. For me even if I don't get to build my garden, at least I lived my life working towards it and smelling what I've grown along the way :)
