Hi Steemit!

Well, after 2yrs of steeming and over 20,000 “posts,” my last phone succumbed to its built in obsolescence. It was a 7s and I did like it very much. Anyway, the new phone I have is the Xr and among other things it has a really cool portrait mode that allows you to digitally manipulate the f-stop, and thus change the depth of field — read: make it fuzzy in the background. Now of course I am biased, but check out this great photo of my lil’ boy Leon

And not to be outdone, and always the charming subject, here’s Charlie (thing-1) makin’ momma all teary eyed

It’s a relatively simple edit, and has a couple of extra lighting options — Beyond what you get in the regular editor, which, I contend, is a whole heap of fun!

Try it it conjunction with “deep art effects” (free from the App Store) for some additional Shazam 🤩👍

And finally, here’s a quick selfie I took in portrait mode that came out pretty good. I’m not sure what I was going for with my face, lol, but to my eye this photo and indeed the others, look like they were taken with something besides just a phone.

If you have this option on your phone then try it out. And otherwise, fool around in the photo editor — there’s some really cool effects to be found, as well as easy cropping and orientation that can make a huge difference.

I hope you dig 👊😎

Cheers! from thedamus@thedamus
