When the first 10 Centavo was minted in 1903, it weighted 2.69 grams with a 90% pure silver and from 1907 to 1945 it drop to 2 grams with a 75% purity, best of when the people of Philippines gain their independent in 1946 and minted their own version of this coin in 1956 it became a clad of Copper-nickel-zinc which weight the same 2 grams. A 1944 5 centavo with a weight of 4.92 grams of Copper-nickel-zinc would have basically more metal value then the 1956 version. Talk about debasement.
