This is a modern re-strike of the Japan edo era Koban. I found it to be a cute little gold medal and brought it for my collection. I am still trying to get my hand on a real Koban but the cost of those coins are just way too high so I had to settle with this little guy for the moment. I do have some other Japanese coins in my collection which I will share later on.
