Splinterlands: Gorm The Vengeful, One Of The New Frontier Jackpot Cards

In my last Splinterlands post I shared that I had recently pulled a new Jackpot card. I've finally had some time to mess around with it, and make some strategies to actually use it. These Jackpot cards can be won by completing daily tasks with a 1.5% pull rate, so pretty slim odds. Purchased using Sparks while supplies last, and they aren't. Or purchased on the open market.

Sparks can be won for free daily by spinning the wheel of Lux's Favor in Frontier mode, or by burning Foundations cards. This card I won by random chance which was very exciting!

Let's a have look at the card in detail...

Gorm The Vengeful starts with Opportunity to strike the enemy cards with the least health every round. At level two he picks up Magic Reflect which is very useful, then at level three he gains an extra melee attack up to three. Then at level four he picks up speed and Affliction, meaning that an attacked card has a 50% chance of being unable to be healed following the attack. At max level this can be a formidable card in the right circumstances.

This screenshot is after the buffs have been applied but before the action has started. First off this a 76 mana cap battle in Frontier so a very healthy set of options for this one. The rulesets were Explosive Weaponry meaning adjacent cards to the damaged card are damage by blast damage. The other was Eggceleration meaning that all units get +1 stats at the end of each round. So this should be interesting!

For archon I chose my gold foil Thalgrimore decreasing the health of all enemy cards by one. For tank I chose to use Nim Guard Captain, next up I placed up high health card to take the blast damage so I used Lenore Nevermore. Then I brought in my magic cards, Sorrow Harvester that decreases enemy health by an additional one unit and Little Sister which is flying and has Life Leach. Then I brought in Gorm The Vengeful since he is a very heavy mana card but not great on health, and rounded out with A'lan Musketeer.

My opponent chose the same archon, but used New Beluroc Aegis as tank for it's Taunt ability. Next they used Nim Guard Captain to absorb blast damage. Then came Sorrow Harvester and Little Sister. Last up they used Black Widow and A'lan Musketeer.

Here Gorm The Vengeful earns his keep by taking out the enemy tank.

By round two this is where things stood.

Midway through round two I started to get a little worried...

But by round three things were looking better!

And A'lan Musketeer takes out the last two opponent cards with his double hit and blast damage. Good game to my opponent! Grom The Vengeful was helpful in this battle, and ultimately did help me pull out the win. I think as he is levelled up he will be much more useful, at level one he is just too fragile to use very often. But it is always fun to use new cards, and these new jackpot cards are shaking up Frontier!

Opening Today's Foundations Packs

I have always liked to share some pack opening in these posts. This morning I had a three decent ones, no gold legendary cards. But I still got a legendary and a nice gold card.

Vicious Quillian in a gold foil is a nice card. I've got a max copy already so this one goes up for sale!

And a legendary Great Bear Druid, a nice card, will also go up for sale as I have a maxed out copy already as well. Not too bad for today's packs, normally I don't get so lucky!
