That harrier hawk is sure a sly little devil. Waiting patiently for a day at a time looking for it's opportunity to strike and kill the owl. Sad to lose two owls to one hawk, but at least the crows chased him out of the area for the time being so these new owls could move in.

With any luck they will stick around for some time controlling those rodents. They are beautiful animals, and as birds of prey you wouldn't think they were all that vulnerable to other predatory birds. Apparently, they are a culinary favorite of the harrier hawk.

Those were some great pictures you got. It seems to have gotten used to you and not seeing you as an imminent threat. It must be fun to see the owls around, there are on in my area. When you say road runners you are referring to people I assume? When I think of road runners I think of the bird from the southwestern US and Mexico that eats lizards and snakes.

When I live in Arizona I would see them pretty much every day, they were everywhere! I couldn't find any of my pictures of them, they can be tough to photograph as they are skittish and run if they feel threatened. But that is nature, everything needs to eat, even the hawks, owls, and road runners!

A tip as always my friend, keep up the good work!
