Those wild fires are very common out in the western US, and I remember being in the smoke from one while in Phoenix, Arizona that was so bad it was hard to breath! The sun turned to blood, it was a very odd experience. We get them here in California as well as the wind will blow the smoke in from time to time, but mostly blows in westward away from us. A very miserable experience especially if you have asthma!

It does make for some great photo opportunities though, that much is certain. Those pictures came out great. The oranges and reds are beautiful. Thank goodness the fire was far away though, the last thing you want is for it to burn down the neighborhood! I'm glad you and wife are safe an sound!
