I hear you, life makes us push on because the bills must be paid and no one else is going to help. Even if you don't feel well you have to push forward, no one really cares except you. It's sad that the world is the way it is, but it just is and always has been.

Networking is another thing altogether and has to be done throughout life to survive. No man is an island, and we need others to live. Trying to network above your "class" doesn't usually pan out very well. For example, I have couple second cousins who are billionaires, but they most certainly won't even talk to me about business because I'm not part of that club. Stick with those who can work with you and stand to benefit from your experience.
