Abstract artworks can be so boring and at the same time so meaningful….
Some weeks ago, my painting lecturer gave myself and some other students to make a painting using the same style and approach of any master artist in Nigeria that we love or want. I decided to work with a Nigerian Master artist by the name - “Yusuf Grillo”, he just died recently and since I’ve been admiring art as a kid, his work has always been ones I get to see most on screen and that made it easy for me to always and easily acknowledge his works or art.
The assignment wasn’t to imitate the master but to follow him or her, so the painting above carries some features of Grillo’s style of painting and at the same time it carries some of my styles of interpretations too.
Kindly share you thoughts as comments below, I’ll be glad to read and reply them all. Thanks.
