Laundry had me braving the current winter earlier today and the mind wants me to gather the courage to share something I find rather difficult here.
If you read my posts, you know that I am a mother of three and I am solely responsible for them. You would also know that I have a two-acre farm I am trying to turn into a small-scale venture cum food sustenance project and I work for a nongovernmental organization that interacts with rehabilitation institutions on the side.
Having these three balance out with my income and expenses is becoming increasingly difficult thanks to the current inflation and the reigning blood bath in the cryptographic realm.
It is hurting to glimpse at my powering hive power and especially at the prices it is at but it is what is buying groceries every week. The visits to the farm as much as I crave for them have stopped as using five dollars every trip means letting my brood go without food.
...a gift from a beautiful soul has been what I have been using to make things easier 馃攩
I am thinking about going back to the drawing board but I also need to know how I will survive this. Thinking about how much I have invested in the farm, alto coins and my poultry shed is driving me insane but I am trying to practice patience.
These coming weeks might find me engaging more here as I wait out for my first harvest. My low immunity can't handle the weather down in the valley and fuel prices won't allow me to go there either. Talk about high production costs and I am yet to earn anything from it.
Not only is it my first time in years of renting to be behind on rent but it is also my first time buying maize flour (which is our staple food) for more than two dollars. Liquid gas which we rely on heavily is three times its 'normal' prices.
I am overwhelmed and I am not alone. The common man is taking to the streets and rumours are going around insinuating that we might be forced to pull a Srilanka move on August 9th which is when the next general elections will be held. And as much as I am for this move, I am more worried about where my next meal will come from whilst hoping that this nation won't be driven into another tribal clash or post-election violence.
Or what should I be troubled about as a mother?
