One of the biggest issues I've seen lately is that people have this expressions ready to justify their spending, and their bad habits:
You only live once
It's just this one time
It's the last time
I don't do it everyday
What if I die tomorrow, I want to live a little
And when it's not this, they reflect the blame to other things:
I was never given any financial education
My parents didn't give me the best example
The companies made me do it
The salesman told me to do it
Society is the fault
I understand when teens say things like this, they have a hard time thinking long term and lack impulse control!
But when you are over 25?! Be responsible for your actions! Be accountable for your actions! Don't victimize yourself! Don't bet on the unlikely scenario that you will die in the short term. And don't justify your bad choices, bad spending and going into debt with ready to go phrases that PsyOps you into making dumb things.
