The Kingdom of Samudra Pasai is the first Islamic kingdom in Indonesia. Since its establishment in Year 1297 AD, under the leadership of Sultan Malikussaleh, this kingdom once served as a center of political, economic, trade and Islamic Broadcasting activities to the archipelago and even Southeast Asia.
In the era of the Kingdom of Pasai Ocean known Direuhan which is Currency made of gold as a means of payment / trading instrument of the trade of that era.
In the historical record of some world adventurers such as Ibn Battuta, Marcopolo and Admiral Ceng Ho have been to Samudra (now the island of Sumatra) Samudra Pasai (now Aceh), especially to the area where this Meseum building was built. Archaeological Evidence of the Tomb of the Sultanate of the Kingdom of Samudra Pasai many found here, including the Tomb of Sultan Malikussaleh, Sultan Malikuldhahir and Sultan Nahrisyah around the area of this Meseum building.
