Hello everyone!
This post is about a little egret looking for food in a pond.
What a sunny day! A perfect day to hunt for outdoor photos. I took my Nikon D5500 camera, looking for objects I could capture. I didn't take long to think of what to photograph as I spotted a little egret in the pond.
The little egret was looking for food there. After landing from its aerial reconnaissance, the little egret strolled over the pond. The little egret certainly didn't want to make a noise that would drive its prey away.
Three seconds later, the little egret brought its beak close to the pond's surface. Apparently, the little egret had started to find its prey.
Two seconds later, the little egret's presence was noticed by its prey. At first glance, the little egret looked frustrated. But it wasn't! The little egret was actually catching its breath to peck at its prey.
Hups! Very quickly, the little egret pecked at its prey. There was a splash of water in the opposite direction of gravity. Did the little egret succeed in pecking at the prey?
Congratulations! The little egret managed to get a pond shrimp. The little egret was very happy with its success.
The little egret turned around three seconds later and started enjoying its meal.
But wait! The shrimp was struggling to free itself from the egret's beak. The little egret almost lost its meal. Had the little egret not been alert, the shrimp would have escaped into the open.
This time, the little egret would not let go of its prey. The little egret looked for a comfortable place to devour its prey.
The next few seconds were nerve-wracking for the pond shrimp. The little egret seemed to be playing with the shrimp. In fact, occasionally, the little egret swung the shrimp into the air and caught it again. So deft was the little egret when playing with its prey. Was this one of the little egret's strategies to make the shrimp look like a loser? Maybe.
Only after the very next second, the little egret had entirely devoured the shrimp. My presence disturbed it somewhat, even though I was some distance away from the little egret.
Thank you for reading my post.
