🇪🇸 ~ Cuando era niña me gustaba mucho peinarme con "una matica de poco", así le decía a este pequeño moño sobre la cabeza porque justo eso parecía cuando me miraba al espejo, una pequeña palmera, y ese pequeño detalle me hacía muy muy feliz (en estas fotos por mi sonrisa se nota).

🇺🇸 ~ When I was a child, I loved combing my hair with “una matica de poco” (a little palm tree), which is what I called this little bun on top of my head because that's exactly what it looked like when I looked in the mirror. That little detail made me very, very happy (you can see it in my smile in these photos).

Cuando busco fotos de vez en cuando para digitalizarlas recuerdo anécdotas como esa, tambien repaso algunos recuerdos porque tengo memorias de cuando tenía 2 años y es lindo ver como ciertas imágenes de tus recuerdos coinciden con las fotos de los álbumes de la familia, detalles como esa mecedora y la sensación del tejido al sentarte sobre ella.

When I occasionally look for photos to digitize, I remember anecdotes like that one. I also revisit some memories because I have flashbacks from when I was two years old, and it's nice to see how certain images from your memories match the photos in family albums—details like that rocking chair and the feel of the fabric when you sit on it.

Amo mucho mis fotos de bebé, sé que por tratarse de mí no es una opinion muy imparcial que digamos pero enserio me gustan mis fotos de la niñez porque algunos rasgos los encuentro muy entrañables, especialmente mis ojos, fíjate como parezco asiática aunque en mi familia no tengamos la dicha de guardar algún parentesco con un familiar de oriente (que yo sepa). Allí es cuando entiendo el apodo de "chinita", por muchos años y hasta bien entrada la adolescencia me decían "ella, la chinita".

I really love my baby photos. I know that because they're of me, my opinion isn't exactly impartial, but I genuinely like my childhood photos because I find some of my features very endearing, especially my eyes. Look how Asian I look, even though my family doesn't have the good fortune of being related to anyone from the East (as far as I know). That's when I understand the nickname “little chinese.” For many years and well into my teens, they called me “her, the chinita.”

Estas fotos las tomo un querido amigo de la familia en la casa de mi abuela materna, un fotógrafo profesional que era muy conocido y apreciado en la ciudad por sus retratos infantiles y su trabajo para eventos tanto de gala como familiares, lo recuerdo como un señor muy agradable que siempre me hacía reir, creo que aún vive y espero se encuentre bien y tenga buena salud donde sea que se encuentre 😊 Me gustaria volver a verlo y poder decirle en persona lo mucho que aprecio todas las fotos que me tomó, ya hace más de 30 años o_ _)ﾉ彡☆

These photos were taken by a dear friend of the family at my maternal grandmother's house, a professional photographer who was well known and appreciated in the city for his children's portraits and his work for both gala and family events. I remember him as a very nice man who always made me laugh. I think he is still alive, and I hope he is well and in good health wherever he is 😊 I would like to see him again and tell him in person how much I appreciate all the photos he took of me more than 30 years ago o_ _)ﾉ彡☆
