🇺🇸 ~ Happy Needlework Monday to all of you, this Sunday I was able to start a new series of mini cross stitch embroideries.
It's been a long time since I've embroidered large pieces because I discovered that I don't like it, I've even left about 3 half-finished squares abandoned (and that I have no intention of finishing).
I usually have almost infinite patience when it comes to crafts but when it comes to themed embroidery (mind you, costume applique is a different matter) I find that I prefer small projects that I can finish in 2 hours max, otherwise, I start to experience feelings of frustration I don't know why it happens, but it happens to me!.
Oh, but I've discovered that I love embroidering these adorable little images, tiny, cute colors, and most of all: I really like them because I can use them as decorations on slightly larger sewing projects.
So last week I started a new folder of guide images and this is the result of my first afternoon of mini embroidery; I hope the tour inspires you nice feelings because yesterday the weather was wonderful 🐱 ☕ 🍰
✦ I like to start first by making the edges of the image ✦
✦ Then I fill in the colored areas without a plan, I just go with the flow ✦
✦ For this first design I used only one strand of thread, so that the cross of each color and the background material can be seen ✦
✦ The light yesterday was fantastic ✦
✦ Rare are the days here where the natural light is so perfect, usually it is so bright that it makes your eyes hurt ✦
✦ For these little wings I went back to using only 1 strand for the X's, but I was a little disappointed by how unsaturated in color it looked ✦
✦ This blue color is quite nice and I would have liked to see more of it, but I think it looks good because it is a delicate figure ✦
✦ So far I was on time and not worrying about it being perfect, at that moment the kittens invaded the embroidery area and took a group nap ✦
✦ Topaz was especially happy, he was sleeping for a long time on his back showing his belly, groaning, stretching and occasionally looking around ✦
✦ The next figure I chose to make was an apple juice carto ✦
✦ I got the direction of the thread wrong several times but I didn't let that discourage me ✦
✦ At this time it started to rain quite hard and the natural light was gradually fading, I had to wait until this morning to take the final photos ✦
Realistic goals allow me to make more and better progress in my creative processes. I feel more joyful and fulfilled when I can recognize that even within the hobbies I like, there are also things I don't like and that this doesn't make me less creative or my experience less valuable.
✦ Will I use it as a center on a keychain? Or maybe as a mini window in a totebag? I don't know! But they look so cute, don't they? ✦
For the first 2 embroideries I used 1 strand of skein and for the third embroidery I used 2 strands, you can tell the difference right, I used to use up to 3 strands but the older cousin who taught me to embroider many years ago told me that the beauty of cross stitch embroidery was that you could see the cross in each square.
I am happy to start this new mini project, my goal is to soon fill a small box with at least 20 mini embroideries.
I hope everyone has a great start of the week, take care of yourselves, drink lots of water and I will be back next Monday with the progress of this new stitching goal (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) 💕
