Before getting into the background of this amazing mansion, I wanted to share my history with it. While walking in a very wealthy neighborhood after exploring another abandoned mansion, about 8 months ago. We passed by this beautiful house and noticed people moving out. We joked about how incredible it would be to explore a home like it and immediately noticed a sign sticking out of the bushes along the fence. A sign that we know very well, a demolition notice. We thought there is no way possible that this is going to be demolished! Then we thought well the one beside it had been, so we decided to start watching it. We watched as the yard and driveway became overgrown and then two weeks ago the tree protection fences were put up. This is a tell tale sign the home would be gone very soon. We needed to act or we would miss the chance.
On our first try we walked up and found a door open, we walked in and were in complete awe. We wandered through and I was literally beside myself! Never had I imagined that I would be exploring a location like this! Then we saw a pickup truck coming down the driveway, and ran strait through the backyard to a creek. We got soaking wet as we traversed out way out of the area (not to mention the cuts and bruises from the bushes). I put the drone up and watched a worker assess the cobblestone driveway and then leave. He was not there for us and had no idea that we were even there, but to be safe we left and came back 2 days later. That is when this photo set was captured.
Info about the property:
Built in the early 1980s by a financier and real estate developer, this 30,000 square foot mansion was modeled after a French chateau and has been said to rival any in France. But after his company began to fail and year of neglect to the home he sold the property in 2002.
The new owners were dedicated to restoring the property to its original grandeur. They assembled a team of an architect, a landscaping architect and designers to achieve this and they fully succeeded.
The property was then put up for sale in 2014 for $25 million, it did not sell and was put on the market again in 2017 with the price tag of $35 million. It was taken off the market then put back on in 2018 for $40 million dollars. It still did not sell and now in 2022 a demolition permit has been issued and it will be replaced with a new house.
