Hello Hello Coffee Lovers and of course you Tea lovers too☕
I have been threatening to treat myself to coffee all week, and as hectic as this week has been, I was finally able to have it this afternoon.
Am not sure about you, but when it comes to big chains, I am not a fan, and most definitely not with these coffee shop chains.
However, a few years ago when I was back in Northern Ireland I discovered a cracking coffee shop that goes by the name of Bob & Berts
Bob&Berts in Kirkcaldy, Scotland
They were formed in Northern Ireland in 2013 and have since opened shops in Scotland with now I believe three in the North West of England. They also have their shops in small towns as opposed to the big cities which I think is a great thing.
The coffee is awesome, and their 'grub' is great I have to agree.
I got here late in the day, it was about 4pm, so far too late to have their savoury grub, they have awesome breakfast and lunch food by the way.
So I choose something sweet, can you guess which one of the delicacies from the cabinet I choose? See a later picture for the answer.
Along with my general disdain of corporate chains, I love to shop local wherever possible, and Bob & Berts try to source local wherever possible as well.
Skipping back to the coffee for a second.
I choose a medium cappuccino which is shown above and as usual it was a perfect ten out of ten.
They use 100% arabica beans that are a delicate blend of Columbian Antioquia and Guatemalan Huehuetenango Bourbons.
In keeping with keeping things local, Bert & Bobs slow batch hand-roast their beans in a roastery in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
Their shops to me are always bright and airy and have a cheery atmosphere, the staff whether young are not so young are always friendly and super efficient.
I think I have been to six of their shops in Scotland and Northern Ireland and one of the things I love about each of them is that they have a saying on the wall. If you look on the left side of the picture above there is a saying which I will show below.
THIS IS YOUR LIFE
AND DO IT OFTEN
What do you think? Are you like me and try to live to that motto?
I mentioned earlier that I chose one of the sweets from the cabinet and asked if you guessed it.
Well here it is with my coffee.
I love chocolate and I love mint and this was a mint covered chocolate bake, and like the slog says it was great!
Another great thing about Bob & Berts is what they do for the local communities, they raise thousands of pounds for local school sports teams and children's hospices.
Look @coquicoin another reason why I love having a coffee here, is that one of the walls is my cheery colours of blue and yellow, and yes I finally managed to get my coffee treat!
One more thing that might come as a surprise to many of the South Africans in Hive and especially with the charity members @papilloncharity in the Silver Bloggers community is that Bob & Berts also raises funds for Sports Academy George in South Africa, and sponsors sports races. I would be curious if any of our South African friends have heard of this?
So this was my late afternoon treat today on the High Street in Kirkcaldy in Scotland.
If you are ever in a town with a Bob & Berts I would recommend you pop in and have some Proper Coffee and Great Grub.
And as the saying goes I love my coffee ☕,
THIS IS MY LIFE, I DO WHAT I LOVE, AND I DO IT OFTEN.
The weekend is nearly here, and I wish you all a wonderful happy and relaxing weekend and thank you for reading.
