Back in fashion
Is there an out-of-fashion item you would like to come back into fashion? I'd say manners if I was answering this, but what about you? Is it clothing, a type of music or hairstyle, a tradition or way of life? What would you like to come back into fashion and why?
These recent days and generations naturally are very different from the ones before us. Not just in terms of nomenclature or numbers as the years go by but in the things that matter to either each of us or collectively. This is the same way the concept of times and seasons works.
From my childhood, I have always been an inquisitive child such that most times my parents would not want me to be left alone in the house. This was because when I am alone I make sure to search for what is not lost, I go to wardrobes whose contents do not even concern me let alone I understand them. But I did them anyways, I still do though but I make sure to cover my tracks well leaving no traces.馃槑 I have watched too many action movies I guess.
During some of my searches, I found pictures of older people including my parents. This was how I got to know how some of those ancient stuffs look. Oh, did I say ancient? 馃ぃ. When I do some comparisons, I think we have got a lot too tight in this generation. In fact, I will be touching on most of the main topics in that prompt.
One of the first things that I would love to have back is the kind of air-flowing garments. I mean the clothes that were used then were not like all tight dresses or jeans. Some of the men鈥檚 trousers could contain two gen-Zs at once. But they were still smart ones, you know, ironed and starched! I hope no one is going to quarrel with the word smart here because I think the meaning of that has been streamlined only to today鈥檚 clothes. For me, I believe then they enjoyed free movement and comfortability in their dressing than today. You can see some of them in the movie - Judas And The Black Messiah.
Besides, (night) parties here were the ones that had soothing, relatively slow songs that move through the veins of the body, thus releasing some tensions that had built up from maybe work. Nowadays, the parties are rather the building up more tension over the previously existing ones. This is because it is quite hard to find one party where there would be loud, banging sounds from speakers with booze and some others things flying around. Most people even end up getting stressed out and tired from a place that could have been one where people should leave grinning from ear to ear. I know there are some exceptions at times.
Now, to the hairstyles. I remember I saw my Dad鈥檚 picture when he served the nation in the mandatory one-year program - National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). He, together with some friends, posed with their shiny huge dark hair. Those were the times when the afro style was common. Men had their hair kept till it was much so they could either just comb it or add some kind of short pathing onto the hair. Some of these pathing went through the middle of the hair. Funny enough, my dad actually recommended the skin haircut while growing up cos most of us were boys. This style was such that no strand of hair remains on your head like that of Jeff Bezos. The time I saw that afro-style in the picture, I was like why were you preaching a whole opposite of what you did? But really I love that hairstyle. Also, you do not need to spend much time at the barbershop.
These and many more are things in the fashion world that should be brought back from the past because they are not tight-fisted. It is a pity I am not in a place close to home to get some of the pictures I talked about.
It is funny that we laugh at the way of life that existed during the times of those who have gone before us. And I am sure that if they, in the past, could take a look at us, they will definitely burst into laughter too. Well, what can we do? Times are changing. It鈥檚 the circle of life!
