Hey gardeners! It's the planting season again plus school is on break here in Nigeria because of the elections giving me the opportunity to spend a few days with my family and to my surprise, there have been a lot of changes in the garden since my last visit.
The soil has been tilled, new seeds planted and some of them have sprouted already.
This one here is a pumpkin plant(it's the African pumpkin) still very young and green.
This plant loves water and since we're in the dry season around here, I water this every morning and evening so as to keep it going healthy.
She had a water leaf bed and the plant is healthy as well as it's being watered every morning too.
The thing I love most about this garden is her wild spinach(local name is Afang).
This particular plant has no seed for planting but sprouts on its own as weed and anyone who needs it roots it out and plants it wherever he or she wants.
When planted in one place, it breaks forth and germinates all over the land and that's exactly what has happened here. We now have lots of them growing everywhere. The locals enjoy this when it is used to make soup, it's very medicinal and nutritious but to be taken at a right proportion.
Also here is a herbal plant that aids in the treatment of internal heat in the human body. This also wasn't planted, it sprang up as a weed but while weeding the area my mom called my attention to it so I had to avoid rooting it out. It was my first time learning of this herbal plant.
This is my papaya, I planted this one myself some years ago and I'm so glad it's yielding fruit already.
This here is our garden egg plant, it's still thriving despite the hot weather plus not much attention has been paid to it lately but it's a good plant and can thrive in both rainy or dry season.
I love this young cocoyam plant, it looks very healthy and makes a nice meal.
This here is the little cassava harvest we could get while clearing the land for planting new plants. My mom was happy to at least have gotten something from the garden.
That's it from me guys. Thanks for reading this far鉂わ笍.
