Happy New Year to everyone!
Today is the start of another good year for all of us! Another year that will give us another chance in life, a new hope and a new beginning to start a fresh. While learning from the mistakes that we have made this past year and improve ourselves from it.
2017 has been a great year for me, because it's the year that I was introduced to steemit by @themanualbot, kudos to you my friend. This platform has opened my mind into the world of digital currency by reading the post made by the crypto enthusiasts. This made me feel very excited about its great possibilities in the future and how I could gain from it.
And most importantly, this platform has opened my artistic side that I never knew I had. Before I joined steemit I never had any interest to art, my world was like black and white, life was bland for me back then. No excitement, no interest in anything, no hobbies and no color in life. I had nothing that makes me want to give my 100% . But after I joined steemit, I noticed a lot of great artist that sparked my interest, I then followed a lot of artist and looked at their masterpieces. This made me realize that art is BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING, It is the way artist express themselves beautifully and creatively. I also noticed that their artworks was greatly rewarded in this platform, that is why I thought that maybe I should try doing art.
That was the starting point of my journey to be an artist. I visited a lot of post that have great art, researched about the types of art and watched a lot of tutorial videos in youtube hoping that I could learn from it and absorb their styles and techniques in creating an amazing art. After reading, researching and watching tutorials I felt ready to do it. So, I bought an ordinary sketch pad and graphite pencils. Then, I started to draw my first artwork and this was the result of that.

I had never expected that my drawing would be curated by curie. That made me very happy and at the same time, it boosted my self confidence which inspired me to do more art. I am now feeling excitement.
My next art was for the contest of @helene, I was very lucky to be placed third. I started to become creative little by little.

My next art was still for the contest of @helene,I tried to draw my cute little godson. Now I was placed second, I was gaining more confidence in myself. This was my very first human portrait, I find it very hard to draw.

My next artwork was this cute panda, which was curated again by curie. This again helped me feel very happy and excited. Excited that I am improving myself and getting close to being an artist.

I now feel comfortable drawing animal portraits than human portraits because I find it FUN creating the fur of the animals.
My next artwork is on a black paper, I tried to recreate my first artwork using this black paper because I wanted to try inverting my perspective. I find this technique to be quite hard because you have to draw the highlights than the shadows.

My next artwork was still on the black paper, this time I drew a silhouette of a wolf. I was getting used to using this technique but still very far from being good at it.

My next artwork was still on the black paper, this is time its a cat that is showering in the moonlight, I was very disappointed that not many people like it. I really thought that I did a good job drawing this cat but I guess it is not.

But this does not stop me from creating a new artwork.
This time, I used my sketchbook for my new artwork. It is the owl's eye, I drew this with my mechanical pencil and had fun drawing it because I was able to notice the beautiful eyes of an owl.

Now, I was getting interested in owl. So I drew a portrait of it using my mechanical pencil and colored its eyes with golden yellow.
But then after drawing this, I noticed that adding color makes it more alive. So, I used my watercolor and started to paint a flying owl. This would be my first watercolor painting since grade school I knew it will be hard but I wanted to challenge myself even more. So here is the result of that.

I am now finding this watercolor to be super fun and meaningful because it brings more life to the art just like how art brought color to my dull life. It is also not easy to control it but life is also like that, we will never have the full control of it. So, we should just go with the flow of life just like how the color pigment from the watercolors flow with the water.
So, that is all my artwork from 2017, It was a very great year for me. I hope that this year would be much much MUCH greater than the last! Hoping to improve more to be an artist and hoping for your continued support with my artworks. Cheers!
