Armies of the most powerful powers in the world show us that the future of the battlefield is futuristic technologies straight from sci-fi films, including electromagnetic and laser weapons.
For some time there has been speculation about the development of small, light and mobile laser weapons for soldiers by the Chinese army. Now we know that the Chinese have such weapons, and it is really equipment with amazing possibilities.
According to the South China Morning Post, a laser rifle called ZKZM-500 is being developed by a team of engineers at the Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Representatives of the army call it the AK-47 laser, because it is supposed to become so common in the army of the Middle Kingdom, like the Russian Kalashnikov.
ZKZM-500 has a caliber of 15 mm, weighs 3 kilograms and has a range of about 800 meters. The Chinese praise that it is possible to cut a man in half from a distance of over half a kilometer with his help. The rifle can fire over a thousand laser beams lasting two seconds.
Chinese handheld laser weapons have powerful power, but at the same time is powered by ordinary lithium-ion batteries. All this is due to the advanced optical system. At least that's what the Chinese say. The price of ZKZM-500 has been set at 15 thousand dollars.
The ban on the creation and distribution of this type of weapon was established by the UN in 1998. Unfortunately, it has not been respected for a long time, the best example of which was the Middle Kingdom.
