Laughs, this is just a simple laughing situation.
Now once again I'm left alone in a shock and awe moment.
So we booked in this BMW and well as we all know those type of drivers think they own the road, well more than often at-least. It's especially funny how people who own higher class cars think that nothing can go wrong with them.
You are deeply mistaken my friend, they tend to last a little bit longer and have more durability but believe me when things go wrong they go wrong in every possible way!
But with that those "Higher Class" vehicles would only last as long as you take care of it. I've seen many of those coming in and when you remove those pesky belly plates you can see where the mice dined and the cats slept. They are so frikkin dirty under those covers with almost anything and everything stuffed in there! From bottle caps to branches to old discarded cloths everything gets tuck in there. How it gets in there I don't know. But okay that's besides the point!
I have something amazing for everyone today!
We all know how people love to say "Oh no I was driving and then ALL OF A SUDDEN."
Firstly go home with that crap you're about to tell nothing just breaks unless you've driven through some pothole or something.
Especially so with a clutch! It doesn't just fade away!
See the thing is being a technician you can start to read the cars, there are alot of things you can look at how a car is being driven! A lot and well abuse shows very quickly!
Take a look at this clutch on a BMW.
Yeahp, the linings are all gone! You definitely just got this problem!
So the thing is even though it's a manual these "Higher Class" vehicles require you to depress the clutch pedal before it can start so one day the vehicle just didn't want to start because of not detecting a depressing action because the clutch along with the release bearing is completely gone!
It's even bent like nothing I've ever seen before!
I've seen some clutches and I've seen some that were driven HARD! But this is just out right abuse
There is no way anyone will tell me that they didn't feel a shudder when pulling away or even that they didn't struggle to change gears while driving because frankly I'd tell them they are blatant liars!
Just remember that the clutch is the actual thing allow the power transfer, that's why when it's all gone well they you ain't going nowhere!
Shhheeeeeesssssshhhhhhh that's all I can say.
Now this is the other-side of the clutch plate, at-least there are still some friction padding left on it, but it's ripped apart!
See this tends to happen with racing... Jumping out of the line, you know working that clutch till there's nothing left. So it's all fine it can be "easily" fixed although if you plan on being a street racer (which I have no problem with) make sure you can fix or replace things on your vehicle yourself, if not well then be prepared to pay some hefty labour fees because a clutch isn't that hard a job to replace... especially not on most BMW's they really have the easiest transmission removals from what I've seen.
The pressure plate is also beyond usage anymore, you can see that this piece of metal has experienced heat numerous times that's why it has a dullish colour and under that dullish colour you can see it's burnt blue.
Wait till you see this!
Release bearing? What release bearing??
It's legitly gone! There isn't anything left except the caging that melted onto the pressure plate! The bearings everything are gone! I can just imagine how they bounced around inside the bellhousing. 😂
As for the fly-wheel itself, well I'm certain that can be skimmed the threads eaten by the pop rivits in the clutch didn't do too much damage! However if you were in need of a new fly-wheel as well.
Well that's where the going gets tougher on the pocket!
Frankly if you drive a car you can drive it exactly like you want to! It's your property, but there's a common backyard way of racing and then there is real racing. And now knowing the difference between the two well then you ain't no racer you be a ricer!
Don't race your daily and then complain when it breaks down, that's all.
Take note this is not a how to guide, merely myself talking about the work I do and my thoughts around certain things.
