Hey everyone! Hope that you are all doing well 😃 If you have noticed already, my posting schedule is extremely irregular, especially if you actually read the banner. Today I have a number of things I want to announce to keep you updated, so let's get right into it.
15 hours remaining!
I will be finishing off my final IGCSE exams in 15 hours from the time I post this announcement, which means I still have to make some final preparations for tomorrow morning. After that, I will have more time to produce video content for you to watch that may contain higher content value than what I have uploaded on DTube so far.
TechCoderX videos not playing. UGH!!!
TechCoderX now uploads all videos to DTube. The fact that DTube does its garbage collection after post payout, means that videos can no longer be playable after 7 days, unless someone else hosts that video file through IPFS. Although I did 2 videos about DTube & IPFS, my ISP bans ALL p2p traffic regardless of its application. I tried all the workarounds that people are talking about (even using VPNs) and ALL of them did NOT work. Whenever I launch the IPFS daemon, it took down the entire internet connection in the office, until I terminate the daemon and wait for about 10 minutes for the internet to be working again.
In order for my videos to be playable forever, I have to rent a server at the moment to host my video files on IPFS, which will cost me about $5 a month for a 500GB VPS. For the time being, if possible please watch the videos before post payout (or view my posts if it's not a video, just like this one). Every single upvote I receive on my Steemit posts counts and helps me to fund the rental costs for the server so that you will be able to watch my old videos without any problems.
My broken promise. 😰
If you have noticed the banner on every single social media account that I have, you may be asking every single day "where is the video you promised today???" First of all, I want to apologise to every single person scrolling through this announcement post because I did not manage to deliver new content on Steemit every single day, since the day I have this banner updated.
One of the keys to success on Steemit is consistency. In order to be competitive on this blockchain, the best I can do is to post on Steemit, at least once a day. Since I will be finishing off my final exams in 15 hours from time of typing this post, you may be able to see afterwards, either a) Higher content quality each post/video; and/or b) More consistent posting schedule, which means at least one post every one or two days.
Upcoming iOS app developed by me!
This project has been ongoing since January 2017 (?!), under the guidance of @llvllan (he was the one who brought me into Steemit and DTube in the first place). We're almost heading towards the completion of the app, by means of submitting the app for the App Store Review. More details about the app coming soon during the launch day.
iOS development Utopian.io course by TechCoderX!
After making my first @utopian-io contribution, we heard back from them with some feedback. One thing the mods mentioned is that the tutorial was too easy for an average user to figure it out, just by reading the official Firebase documentation. Therefore, the contribution was rejected for the violation of the Utopian guidelines.
I went back to the planning table to think about what I can do to respond to this feedback. I've successfully came up with an idea of creating a video series about building an app that is highly requested by users of a DApp on the Steem blockchain. I will reveal the details of the video series once I'm ready to start posting the first episode.
Finally!
As always, thank you so much for your love and support since I moved from YouTube to Steemit+DTube. It has been an amazing feeling to be a content creator as well as curator on this blockchain, where my work will actually be noticed and appreciated by people. In my next video, I'm going to show you my hackintosh desk setup, this is the centre piece where the magic happens. Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below, and I will see you next time!
