Cornell note-taking system was proposed by Walter Pauk, an education professor at Cornell University. Pauk discussed and suggested Cornell note-taking in his best-selling book How to Study in College.
What is Cornell Method?
The Cornell Method provides a format for organizing notes. It divides the page into two or sometimes in three parts. Depending on the writer.
The first column, left side of the page, is less than the half of the page. This portion or partition of the page is used for writing important thing such as important or related questions, vocabulary, title, definitions or any other information that are important to the writer.
The second column, right side of the page, a bit larger than the half of the page or the remaining right side of the page. This part of the page is used for taking detailed notes and in many cases like taking notes in the class-it is used for taking class notes.
The third and optional portion is the portion at the bottom of the page which is used for writing summery of the above information. But this part is option and depends upon the choice of the writer and the need for summery mathematics, for instance, does not need any summery while other subjects can be summarized so these kind of subjects can have the summery portion on the bottom of the page.
