It's broadly understood that capitalists have a death grip on the government in the USA. We see Citizens united and the 911AUMF as legislation which creates a class of capitalist that can actually govern through the board room. Spending capital on the effective purchasing of legislation, be it through ALEC or more subtle means like think tanks or polling. These mega power player affect international policy, forcing a war here, allowing a humanitarian crisis there, all the while we blunder along as if our elected officials have some modicum of actual power.
