A walk by Palmer Island
Funny thing is I have always called this little Island Palmer's Island, but looking it up on world map for this post, I came to realize it is actually Palmer Island and not Palmers.
That was after searching for it and it not being found, but then when I moved the map to where it is low and behold I see it called Palmer Island
Palmer Island is a tiny, 6-acre "historical survivor" in New Bedford Harbor, MA, boasting a 1849 lighthouse that survived hurricanes, a 19th-century hotel that didn’t, and a checkered past involving, at various times, a plague of tourists, a prison for Indigenous people, and now, a, passive recreation area.
Now I did not actually go onto the island when I took these shots, so its more a walk by the island as the title says rather than a walk on the island,
I have walked the island a few times, but the last few times I visited the area the tide was high and I would have to walk in the water to get to the island and it was pretty cool at the time so I stayed dry and off the island
as you can see in this first shot looking to the island you can see the water is all around the islandm at low tide there is a sand bar you can walk across and onto the island

this next shot is showing the road alongside the Hurricane barrier wall, that leads to both the Island and the gates/control room that separates the New Bedford side of the hurricane wall from the Fairhaven side

This next shot is on a different day , the tide was lower and you can see the sandbar that connects tot he island, it was almost clear of water, but i was running late that morning and didnt have time to cross over and explore the island
