Mono Monday at the port
Good Morning, I hope you all had a good weekend and are doign well
As is my habit on a MOnday I am sharing a few Mono shots to start the week, and today they are all shots from visits tot he port, some fairly recently during the day and others from early morning visits back when it was a bit warmer.
NOw some have asked why I say Mono photos and not Black and White, well that is beacuse a Black and white is a type of monochrome photography, but monochrome can also include other colors and tones and sure some days I may share a post where all the photos are strictly Black, white and shades of grey, but more often than not when I edit photos into a Mnochrome style I may use different color, such as in todays post where along with a couple of B&W images I have one with blues, one more sepia tones and one with shades of blue.

I have done posts just of the Ernestina Morrisey where I talk about her history but in short, she was built and launched on February 1, 1894. was owned by Captain William E. Morrissey and the John F. Wonson, Co. of Gloucester, MA. The vessel was named after Captain Morrissey’s daughter. The ship’s illustrious career began that same year, when the 156-foot-long schooner carried Gloucester fishermen to the Grand Banks, Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland in search of cod, haddock, hake, halibut, pollock, and other species and to carry freight,
Under Captain Bob Bartlett she sailed to within 600 miles of the North Pole, and later brought immigrants to the U.S. under the power of sail. Returned to the US in 1982 as a gift from the newly independent Cape Verdean people, she sailed as an educator until 2005
She now is often docked at this spot here in New Bedford
Next up some equipment on one of the fishing boats, not sure exactly what it is used to catch but it caught my eye

The shapes of the masts on the ships catch my eye and I think they stand out more in a Mono image
