Millicent Library Fairhaven

This is the one tag and challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.
For this weeks post, I am sharing some images of the Millicent Library in Fairhaven MA, when I was walking around this area, I was focused on getting some shots of some cool old and grand churches in this area, when I came across this building I didn't know what it was at the time but i loved its style and got a few shots.
Now again this is a post that some may debate if it is in fact market Friday related, and here I go with my round about way of thinking justifying why I think it is, or perhaps making an excuse why I decided to share it in Market Friday.

Now As far as I know most libraries either charge a fee to be a member or a funding by the city, so money is involved one way or the other to be able to sign out books from a library, and that money enables people to draw out books and either read for pleasure or to educate themselves, and that is in a nutshell why I consider a library to fit into a Market Friday post, and consider it a market for the mind.

I found the story behind this library very interesting as I researched it for this post, and will share soem info on it I found from Wikipedia
Millicent Library in Fairhaven, Massachusetts was donated to the town by the family of Millicent Gifford Rogers, the youngest daughter of Abbie Gifford and wealthy industrialist Henry Huttleston Rogers. Young Millicent had died of heart failure in 1890 when she was barely seventeen years old. The library was dedicated on January 30, 1893. It was designed by Charles Brigham in the Richardsonian Romanesque style.
Millie dearly loved to sketch and read. She is to have once said on a visit to Fairhaven "I wish we had a good library! When she died at such a young age, her grieving family sought an appropriate means of memorializing her short life. Because she had been an avid reader, especially of poetry, the Rogers decided that they would build and donate to the town of Fairhaven a library named for her and given in the names of her sisters and brother.
The cornerstone was laid in September, 1891

I think its such a grand and stylish building and a wonderful tribute and memorial to young Millicent who passed away so young

THis next shot took me a while to get as there was an older gentleman sitting on the bench shown here, and he was given me weird looks, not that the looks bothered me, when you take photos a lot its something you get used to, but I didn't want to frame a photo with him in shot, so I walked around the area and came back later glad to see he had left and I could get this shot
